Recke is situated on the Mittelland Canal in the north of the Tecklenburg region on the border with Lower Saxony. The districts of Steinbeck, Obersteinbeck and Espel belong to Recke.
Even today, numerous half-timbered houses with opulently decorated gables are reminders of the Tödden, itinerant merchants from the 17th to 19th centuries. Cyclists can get closer to the history and routes of the linen traders on the Töddenland cycle path. On the Teutoschleifchen "Steinbecker Runde", the mining history of the region comes alive again for walkers.
Visitors can relax in the Recker Hochmoor or in the Steinbeck sulphur baths, one of the oldest spas in Westphalia. If you are missing a little maritime flair for a perfect holiday, it is best to take a trip to the Marina Recke, the marina on the Mittelland Canal.

ArrivalGetting there by car:
Recke is located in the far north of Münsterland and can be reached mainly via district and municipal roads.
The A30 motorway is about 11 kilometres away. Guests can use the Ibbenbüren or Hörstel exits for their journey.
Travelling by bus and train:
The nearest train stations are also in Hörstel and Ibbenbüren. Distance Hörstel approx. 14 kilometres and distance Ibbenbüren approx. 12 kilometres.
Connection to Osnabrück main station via bus line S10.
